[Warning: Spoilers ahead for Monday’s episode of 24: Live Another Day, “1 p.m. – 2 p.m.”]
24: Live Another Day continues to roll on.
This week, Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) is in hot pursuit of Chloe’s (Mary Lynn Rajskub) former hacker colleague Derek Yates (Joseph Millson), but discovers he’s been killed by his mysterious female companion.
Chloe tracks her to the London Underground, where Jack finds her, but he’s outsmarted when she cuts her leg, smears blood on herself and tells passersby that Jack attacked her. Jack has to beat up a few innocent people in order to escape. (All in a day’s work.)
Chloe loses the woman when she’s distracted by a man and his boy who look like her husband and son; she reveals they were killed in a hit-and-run. Chloe believes they died because somebody was targeting her.
The pair pause for an emotional beat, and then it’s back to work. Chloe discovers the mystery woman is named Simone Al-Harazi (Emily Berrington), who has ties to terrorists.
We then jump to Catelyn Stark — er, we mean Margot Al-Harazi (Michelle Fairley) — welcoming her daughter Simone home. And it’s here we are presented with the classic 24 setup of a terrorist family with at least one member unsure of its actions. (Remember all those hours with the Araz family in season four?) This time, Simone’s husband is the one who isn’t totally down with their actions — mostly because they involve his wife sleeping with other men.
Back at Chloe’s Wikileaks-esque hideout, Jack requests false credentials so he can get close to the President and hand over proof that the U.S. drone that killed British and American soldiers had been hacked. Bauer heads to the U.S. embassy, but Chloe’s pal Adrian (Michael Wincott) has Jack flagged at the gate, forcing him to escape.
Jack shoots two civilians in the leg and incites a riot, yelling “they’re shooting at us!” as he makes his escape.
Meanwhile, Kate Morgan (Yvonne Strahovski) attempts to strong-arm Yates’ old crew into giving up the information she needs. She doesn’t quite have the Bauer touch when it comes to getting info, but she does knock out Basher (Tamer Hassan) and take him against Navarro’s (Benjamin Bratt) orders. She threatens to drop Basher off with a gang he wronged if he doesn’t talk. That scares him straight and he agrees to talk.
Q&A: ’24: Live Another Day’ Writers on Premiere
What about the President’s group?
Audrey’s husband Mark Boudreau (Tate Donovan) forges President Heller’s (William Devane) signature, issuing an executive order that approves the U.S. handing Jack over to the Russians — who are still sore at him for killing two of their diplomats in season eight.
Audrey (Kim Raver) urges her dad not to address the members of Parliament, but is not successful. Heller’s Alzheimer’s makes the grilling he receives more than he can handle.
What’d you think of the episode? What’s Jack’s next move? Sound off in the comments!
24 airs at 9 p.m. Mondays on Fox.
