Skinny Book Review

Ever Davies is fat and obese. She hears Skinny talking to her all the time. Skinny makes comments about friends, family , and boy that she likes. She has tried many ways to lose the weight. Her mother has been dead for some time.  She decides to have gastric bypass surgery.

She has adored Jackson from afar, and her friend Rat is always by her side. Rat helps her while she deals with the aftermath of her of surgery. He is always tracking her progress.

During the time of her losing the weight, there is always a song that helps her stay motivated to lose the weight. Brielle is her step sister, and they need to work out their issues with each other. Ever is also selfish and can't see beyond her self and her issues. She also still has a low self esteem since the surgery.

Ever helps out in the community with Rat, and while there she always sings to the Cinderella . Ever has some goals that she wants to accomplish.  There was a lot of mention of Cinderella and changing is brought up alot. She is changing too from the surgery , on the inside and outside. She is struggling with many things through out this book.
I loved that this book tackled a surgery realistically. But I don't like this cover because its not like Ever through out the story. I would let my daughter read this book.  I know that surgery is a way out , but not the always the answer to good health.

Best Line: She dances around the front of the room , like Rainbow Brite on speed. Her voice is strong and on pitch even without accompaniment. It's a good voice, but I can sing better.

Book Review= B

Thanks to scholastic for letting me read this book and this is my honest review

  1. I ended up liking this one too! I liked Ever a lot and I liked how realistically the surgery was portrayed, even though I think some of the secondary stuff could have been beefed up.
