BUTTE COUNTY-
The remains of a man missing since 2006 are being examined to determine his cause of death.
Crews were clearing brush as part of fire safety procedures south of Oroville Monday when they found bones.
Butte County Sheriff’s deputies confirmed they were human skeletal remains.
On Wednesday, the remains were identified using dental records as Ronald Earl Bonner, Jr.
Bonner went missing in October 2006. The then-22-year-old was last seen leaving his home in Biggs, which is about 20 miles away from Feather Falls Casino, where his remains were found.
In 2006, investigators believed Bonner’s disappearance was suspicious.
Forensic anthropologists are now examining the bones to determine a cause of death.
Anyone with information about Bonner or his remains is asked to call Butte County investigators at 530-538-7671.
