POTSDAM, NY (05/11/2011)(readMedia)-- SUNY Potsdam junior Zeppy O'Geen was named to the 2011 All-State University of New York Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse second team, the conference announced Monday.

A first-year player, O'Geen led Potsdam in ground balls (94) and faceoff percentage (.593) while finishing third in the league in ground balls per game (5.69). The Massena, N.Y., native also posted 19 goals and seven assists as one of the team's most dangerous players on the field.

"Zeppy is a constant, every-game contributor," Potsdam coach Rick Berkman said. "He gains ball possession, scores goals and is a physical presence. It definitely hurt not having him there for the SUNYAC championship game."

The Bears (8-9 overall, 4-2 SUNYAC) wrapped up their 2011 campaign on Saturday, falling in the SUNYAC Tournament championship game at NCAA title contender and powerhouse Cortland. Potsdam finished second in the league during the regular season, earning a No. 2 seed and hosting its first-ever home game in the SUNYAC Tournament. The Bears earned the first conference tournament victory in school history on May 4, defeating third-seeded Geneseo 18-17.
