Elk Grove City Council Members Jim Cooper and Steve Detrick and newly elected Mayor Gary Davis take the oath of their respective offices tonight at Elk Grove City Hall.
Cooper starts his fourth four-year term while Detrick commences with his second four-year term. Davis, who was first elected the city council in 2006 and relected in 2010, start a two-year term as the city's first directly elected mayor.

What a love-fest it was ....everyone hugging and smiling and getting along. It was such a farce, phony event I had to leave early. My stomach couldn't handle it. My view of this council and this town is really starting to diminish which is a shame. I have lived here over 35 years and now ashamed to tell people I live in EG. Their reaction is always the same: a query little smile, a head node, followed by "so sorry to hear that" statement. We have no class or integrity anymore. Very shameful.
