SACRAMENTO–

Typically, you can find a family gathered around the TV watching sports on a rainy Saturday afternoon. But the Duenas family did something different.

From the picture it looks like they are shopping, but this event is bigger than that.

“We were just about to pack up and then this one family pulled up in this mini-van, there were kids in the back,” said Manuel Duenas the founder of Fishers of Men. “The kids were very hungry, they told their mom they were very hungry and I just broke down.”

It touched Manuel; and, for the past three years, he’s been serving the community with the help of his family and donations. This time around he was able to feed 150 people.

The family-run non-profit group provides meals and clothing to the less fortunate.

The Duenas Family says, they will continue to give back to the community as long as there are people in need.

Their next community outreach event will be for Thanksgiving. You can help them by calling (916) 420-8808 or sending an email to hnlislands@yahoo.com.
