MONTGOMERY - First Baptist Church of Montgomery, 305 South Perry Street, will host a free apologetics conference on Jan. 19, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In partnership with the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions, The Alabama Baptist newspaper and Tactical Faith, an organization that provides resources for apologetics to local churches, the SALT conference aims to equip Christians to explain and defend different aspects of their faith.
The SALT (Strategic Answers for Life’s Thoughts) conference will deal with arguments for the existence of God, the trustworthiness of the Bible, and the sanctity of human life. Speakers will include Gary Habermas, professor of philosophy at Liberty College in Lynchburg, Va., and Greg Koukl, founder of apologetics ministry Stand to Reason.
"The thought behind the SALT conference is to get the evangelical churches in our state to start thinking about their faith and be introduced to the resources that the evangelical world has to offer in terms of answering tough questions," said Matt Burford, one of the organizers of Tactical Faith.
Afternoon sessions will feature a track for youth as well as one for adults.
Additional sponsors for the conference include Truth, Evangelism & Apologetics Mission; Ratio Christi; Telos Ministries; Apologetics 315; Selfless Defense; TRUTH Ministries; Apologetics Resource Center; Faith Radio; Veridisciple; and Stand to Reason.
