An investigation is underway after a cat was found hanging by a rope from a tree in South Sacramento.

Wednesday morning, the City of Sacramento got a call from someone who saw the cat hanging from a noose south of Florin Road near 24th Street.

Animal Control Officers took the cat’s body down from the tree, and now are asking for any information about who may have put him there.

Neighbors recognized the cat from the area, but did not know who was responsible for its death.
