The latest trailer for The Equalizer borrows a tone reminiscent of Liam Neeson‘s 2008 hit revenge film, Taken.
The Sony Pictures drama, directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day), stars Denzel Washington as a retired intelligence officer who is drawn back into a violent mafia-related world.
Washington’s character has “a very particular set of skills,” as Neeson’s Taken character might say, that lend themselves to revenge when the situation calls for it.

Chloe Grace Moretz stars in the film as “a young girl under the control of ultra-violent Russian gangsters,” according to the synopsis. Marton Csokas plays the villain role in the film, which was written by Richard Wenk (The Expendables 2).
The Equalizer is set for wide U.S. release on Sept. 26, against Focus Features animated title The Boxtrolls and A24’s Laggies, which stars Keira Knightley and Moretz.
