ROSEVILLE–
The crush of customers and flying fists.
As the number of YouTube videos capturing the first minutes after the Roseville Galleria opened on Black Friday mounts, it becomes clear what a chaotic scene it was. Many shoppers at the calmer Mall today are saying good deals or not, Black Friday sometimes just isn’t worth it.
“I went once when I was 8 months pregnant. Don’t ever go when you are 8 months pregnant,” said Alysia Kelly, a shopper.
Still, others who were there when the doors opened Friday came back for more.
“It was an epic sale,” said Noel Jundi. “Some things that are $80 and you can never get them for less.”
Still, store clerks were not as enthused about the door busting deals.
“Most people were pretty nice to us,” said Victoria’s Secret employee Jessica Wilbourn. “But maybe 20% of the people were pretty crazy and ruined it for everybody.”
In Victoria Secret, customers were climbing on the display tables and the “panty bar,’ throwing merchandise and boxes, trampling each other, pushing and fighting.
With sale this weekend up across the nation over last year, there’s no doubt retailers are getting what they bargained for.
But you have to wonder, sale or no sale, what is the price we are really paying for a pair of underwear?
