EMT’s contracted with Cal Expo told FOX40 that, during Monday’s triple-digit temperatures, their team responded to three heat-related calls on site.

Of those, two were transported to the hospital.

“Today is, no doubt, a change for us. We have added extra staff,” AMR supervisor Kevin Andersen said.

Throughout the day, the slide was closed down for several hours because the surface temperature was too warm.

By 6 p.m., a few clouds rolled in and the ride was reopened.
