Listen: Oliver Tank - Last Night I Heard Everything In Slow Motion
Choppy pieces of sound, wispy James Blake-esque vocals, strings and everything. Good enough to make you say things like “This is the most beautiful song I have ever heard” or “This is too much. I can feel my life revolving in circles. Everything rushing past, too fast to think about”. Thanks Oliver Tank, it’s quite nice. :)
Listen: Hayden Calnin - For My Help
Trying out this new soundcloud embed thing with a new song from Hayden Calnin, who makes [what his mate described as ‘ethereal progressive folktronic music’]. Rather lovely, huh? And he features on Oliver Tanks latest EP on the track You Never Know which I guess you can listen to below.. cause I’m nice.
#GirlsToTheFront - International Womens Day Playlist
To celebrate this #IWD2018 I’ve put together an unofficial #GirlsToTheFront playlist to celebrate some of the most exciting women in music today.
I wanted to highlight a lot of newer and emerging artists in this playlist to provide everyone a glimpse at how much new amazing music is coming out from women around the globe so that you all have something new to add to your playlists.
Smirnoff and Spotify are doing a great little womens day campaign that highlights the huge gender imbalance in popular music streaming, with claims that 100% of top streamed tracks in 2017 were male artists.
You can check out the website here to find out your gender streaming stats here. I’m gonna bet it hangs heavy on the male side, and the playlist they suggest for you to help remedy that is.. uhm.. it’s fine. But mine is better.
Top Songs of the Week (20th Nov)
Whats up, how is everyone? Are you ready to hear the best music you’ve ever heard in your life? You’re not, nobody is, that’s why we’re only bringing you the top songs of the week, not the life.
Who knows, though. Any of these could be your next ‘favourite song of all time’.
Bülow - Not A Love Song
“Xellenial teen girls take over the internet and your eardrums” - the headline for 2018 as Bülow, Sody, Billie Eilish, and Sigrid become the best things about women in pop music.
The song itself is a banger with lyrics that speak fully to the heartless but hopeless romantic I am.
“Wish I could tell you that I love you but I can’t / Wish I could call you in the morning but I can’t”.
Dounia - Casablanca
Thanks for the recommendation for this one. Love it when I get them. In love with Dounia at the moment, and this song is the reason for it. Who doesn’t love a good pineapple fanta?
“Checks come and checks go, men come and men slow, in love with the hustle it’s good for my mental / It’s good for my mental, I’m only content when I’m finding my hands full”
Flor - Warm Blood
I just came across Flor, and their heavy layered synth sound got me immediately. Their new album “come out, youre hiding” which was released earlier this year is a delight the whole way through, which isn’t something so easy to come by these days, so check it out.
Who would have guessed that this song was written/inspired about/by the video game “The Witcher III” which I thought I would hate, but actually did turn out to be pretty great.
“You’re whispers and sunlight / Cold hands feeling for mine”
Nina Nesbitt - The Best You Had
Ah, yes. Gotta through in at least one sad song about an ex lover, or heartbreak, or it wouldn’t be music that we like (would it?). Especially when you’ve got a broken heart but a big ego at the same time.
“It’s crazy that you’re moving on so fast / When I am still the best you had”
Pale Waves - New Years Eve
You know what, their wasn’t a strong contender for my fith song this week. I had a look and there were some good ones, but nothing really stood out, but this has been a guilty pleasure of mine the last few days. Even though all their music sounds.. very similar. Whatever.
“I don’t wanna be alone on New Years Eve / Do you even wanna be with me?

Thats it. Scram. <3
Top Songs of the Week (12th Nov)
Whats up team. Here we are, back at it again with the best jams in the world.
Sasha Sloan - Ready Yet
It’s kinda perfect for me. It’s sad. It’s about past love. You got mixed feelings. You hate them, you love them.
“Sometimes I just wanna call you / But the time is never right / Even though I really want to”
“It’s hard for me to be mad at you / ‘Cause there’s part of me that loves you still / Always will, you know
EXES - Memorize
That feeling when you really wanted to savor every single moment you’re with somebody so that when you’re not together you don’t have to feel so alone. Yep. that’s what the songs about. Fitting that the artist is called 'EXES’.
"I will try to memorize the night we drove for miles / I will try to memorize the corners of your smile”
Salen - I Am Champagne
I feel like this song is pretty much written for me. You know. That part of me. Haha.
“You’re not in love, you’re in trouble”.
Bazzi - Mine
I’m not really about possesive relationships and people belonging to one another as a general rule. I think Lana said it best; “I belong to everyone, and I belong to nobody”. I’ll look past it though Bazzi, cause your song is gr8.
“You so fucking precious when you smile / Hit it from the back and drive you wild”
David Guetta - Dirty Sexy Money feat. Charli XCX
Not much to say here, TBH. I love everything Charli does (I mean mostly) and this one is a banger. Also, thanks David Guetta, despite your rep, you’ve always got a fan in me.

Thats it. Short post. I’m tired. Night.
Top Songs of the Week (5th Nov)
Hey. Happy sunday. Much love and happiness to you and all of your loved ones. The world is crazy, and I’m just sitting here trying to find some piece of mind with some sad songs.
Chelsea Cutler - Giving Up Ground feat. Quinn XCII
Really the only song I’ve been listening to all the week, the other tacks below are added for effect. So I don’t seem insane. Can’t get over Chelsea Cutler. Sue me. The track is sickly soft and sickly sweet. Can leave it on repeat all day.
“Because you know I’m done, pretending I’m wrong when it’s not my fault”.
MTNS - Waves
Aussia trio MTNS releases have been consitenyl good so they’ve been building a great following over the last year, and their live performances are supposed to be great. Waves is how we refer to emotions, so they feel us too.
“Can you feel it in waves? I can feel it in waves”.
Future Jr. - Sentimental Trick
Future Jr. is also from Australia (but melbourne I think), and spouts influences like Lorde and Toro Y Moi. Sentimental Trick does full justice to the tracks title, and is a perfectly delicate tracks that dances around the topic of friends and lovers.
“And if you wanna just tell me maybe, I could make sense of this sentimental trick”.
Luna Shadows - Youth
Almost every article I’ve read about Luna Shadows compares her to Lana Del Rey, but I honestly don’t get that from any of her music. It’s supposed to be very LA. I guess so. I dunno. I’m just living here.
“All my wasted youths not wasted, if it’s on you”.
Carmody - Like That
London based Carmody brings us a gorgeous ballad this week that hints at lyrical references of Celine Dion (ya, right?).
“Can you love me like that, wrap around me like that, I always need you like that”.
–
That is it for this week. Done for now. :)
Top Songs of the Week (30th October)
This week we were super busy and actually didn’t do much listening, but the listening we did do, we loved. Here are our top songs of this week. We hope you enjoy as much as we do.
SOPHIE - It’s Okay To Cry
Absolutely in love with this song and video. Never expected this from SOPHIE, but turns out they are full of surprises. Fall in love with the clip above, just as I have. What an incredible track to shine a whole new light on SOPHIE and their music.
“I hope you don’t take this the wrong way, but your inside is your best side”.
PS. Saw her debut live performance on Monday night and it was insane, so glad I went even though I had just landed in LA after a 12 hr flight hours earlier.
Kllo - Pedicament
Super smooth production and vocals on this track from Australian duo Kllo. Makes you feel like youre swimming. But swimming in goo. But youre also high AF and the goo is slowly dripping over a cliff. Inredibly sounding after a few listens, give it a few goes.
“Tell me you’re the one, yeah, tell me you’re the one / But you’re not the one, not the one”
Hugh - I Can’t Figure You Out
We featured Hugh a short while ago, and are happy to showcase another one of their mesmerising tracks this week. This time telling the story of a longing and love for somebody who may or may not return the sentiment. We’ve all been there. Apparently its called breadcrumbing, or something. We’re not the expert.
“Darling / You know, you know, you know just how I feel / Darling / Don’t toy with me”
Mothica - Self Destructive
Mothica’s Heavy Heart EP came out earlier this year, but this week we’ve been stuck on the single ‘Self Destructive’. We’ve been known ourselves into self destructive situations in romance every once in a while so we can relate. We get you Mothica (which reminds me of Mothra every time I say it in my head. Is that the point?).
“I don’t wanna wait / But I know that it’s too soon / I could run away / But I wanna stay”
Tash Sultana - Notion
Tash Sultana’s EP did come out last year, and we had listened to bit of out, but it wasn’t until recently we were recommended to check her stuff out again. Lucky we did. Cause she’s a musical genius, and although I can’t say I dig every single track, Notion is gorgeous.
'Notion’, which is the title track of the EP was also re-released for radio as a single this year, so that’s a thing.

Okay, that’s it for this week. Time to explore more good music so we can bring you the best stuff next week. <3
Top Songs of the Week (23rd Oct)
This week we have an amazing list of 60% songs about breaking up or longing for somebody because that’s pretty much a general theme that I am considering with sticking with constantly throughout my life. Is it healthy? My friends tell me no, but the music I listen to says, yes.
Phoenix - J-Boy
Right, we’ll start with this one. I guess it’s the story of two lovers. The album is called ‘Ti Amo’ after all isn’t it?
Phoenix was at one point one of my most beloved bands (circa 2010), but I do the thing where I only listen to new artists, not 7yr old artists sometimes.
Happy to say though I did listen to this album on the plane on my way to China, and just kept going back to this track even after I got off the plane. So it’s worth something.
J-Boy means 'just because of you’, FYI.
“Is it so bad? Is it so true? Is it still you?”
Grouplove - Remember That Night
This one via recommendation from a friend (see I do listen). Funnily enough, Grouplove was another band I listened to back in the days and then sort of fell away from.
Was reminded to check out their latest album and also, same thing as above, got stuck on the first song. It’s sad, so it clicked, you know.
“Am I stupid or do I want you back?”
Asukal - Still Think About U
It’s a song about an ex, how could I not include it in this weeks list? But also about being over an ex at the same time.
There’s these little sounds in this song that really capture the feeling of thinking about your ex in an exquisite way, kind of enchanting but at the same time tinged with hints of sadness.
“Even in another life, I wouldn’t have stayed / But I still think about you”
Chelsea Cutler - Scripts
Yes, yes! We love Chelsea Cutler, and we love songs about break ups and exes. Here’s one more from my favourite up and coming pop star. She always makes it sound so enjoyable.
“I know you gave me hell / But you got me so addicted / I can’t help but stay missing you”
Ry X - Bad Love
Slowing it down a little at the end of our list this week with a new one from Ry X. We’re gonna assume bad love is about sex, but it could also be about a destructive relationship, because those are something that we all know are bad for you but getting ourselves into them anyway. We’ll have to ask Ry X himself to clarify.

Okay, that’s it for this week. Tell me your reco’s and we’ll see if I have time to listen to them and add them in here.
Top Songs of the Week (17th Oct)
Yes, so what it’s Thursday. I know I’m late. I’ve been busy though, doing things. Adjusting to time zones and everything. Here are my top songs of last week!!!! Enjoy. 🔥🔥🔥
Aldous Harding - Horizon
Just to transition from the sad list from last week before we hit all the excitement in the rest of the list we’re starting with Aldous Harding’s ‘Horizon’. A sombre goodbye ballad that puts leaving your lover simply, and beautifully;
“Here is your princess, and here is the horizon”.
Pale Waves - Television Romance
Pale Waves move us to a place that could be a break up but we don’t even care anymore, there was nothing there anyway, it was just a television romance. All for play.
The video above, which we love, was also directed by The 1975 frontman, Matt Healy, his directorial debut which makes us wonder…Who wouldn’t love to see a collab between these two emo/goth-pop bands?
“Oh, baby, won’t you stop it / You and I haven’t got it”
Swimful - Dove feat. Palmistry
Palmissstryyyy is back! We loved his debut album and were really excited when we heard the 'Lifted’ cover by Butter last week. This track by Swimful gives us another hit of the drippy dancehall we’ve grown to love.
“Pour that liquor up, up, up / I’m in love with that beauty / Daylight send me loopy / Spending all my rupees / I’m in love with that dove”.
Amanda Fondell - Naked
Yes, Sweden, Yes. TBH, I don’t recall hearing music from Amanda Fondell before, but she’s been around for a while, winning Swedish Idol when she was just 17 back in 2011. Now thought she’s got my attention with a new track she released earlier this year.“Naked” is a sure banger so we’re definitely paying attention now.
“I just wanna see you naked.. just the way you were created”.
Sabrina Claudio - Unravel Me
We’ve all been sleeping on this one, but Sabrina Claudio released an album earlier this year. Somebody should get that girl a better publicist. Whatever. All you need to know is now we’ve bought you 'Unravel Me’, and now you can listen to it.

That’s it for this week, we’re sorry we were late. But that means only a few more days till the next post! Woo.
