Jackie Chan To Appear In THE EXPENDABLES 3

With a script currently being written and more big-name actors being sought, legendary action star Jackie Chan has revealed that he'll have "more than just a minor role" in the next Expendables movie. Hit the jump to read his comments on his inclusion in the action ensemble franchise.

With Lionsgate's The Expendables 2 being another box office success, work is moving forward on a third installment in the series which teams up various action stars from the past and present. It was recently reported that Nicolas Cage, Harrison Ford and Wesley Snipes were all being sought to join the threequel, with Clint Eastwood saying that he probably won't be in it. Afterwards, it was rumored that Cage was confirmed to be in the film, but then it was reported that Sylvester Stallone "had no knowledge" of the Ghost Rider star joining the cast of The Expendables 3. Now, we have one actor confirmed to be signed on: Jackie Chan.

At a press conference promoting his new movie CZ12, Chan confirmed that he will be in the next Expendables movie after being offered a role by Stallone. "Sly had invited me to be in "Expendables 2" but I was too busy filming "CZ12" and couldn't make a commitment to the film. But he did extend his invitation to the third movie, which I agreed on the condition that I will be appearing as more than just a minor role with a few scenes," he said. He also told Stallone that he hoped the threequel would "run along the lines of a 'buddy-buddy' movie if he's in it, to which Sly obliged. The Expendables 3's script is currently in the works. The first one was really a good and entertaining movie, but the second one sucked a lil bit. I hoped for a battle between Lundgren and Damme, where Damme gets his ass kicked that time but Stallone sucked at it.
Hopefully Chan plays the villain and fights Jet Li, then it would be enough for me to watch it in the cinema, unlike the first two.
Wesley Snipes must be in it too. He will be released from jail in july, so he could make it after visiting McDonalds.

Jackie Chan is no villain and if they make him one it would seem so out of place. I hope Jackie and Jet Li play old friends who come
Together and kick oh so much ass. One of my favorite fight scenes in film is their scene in Forbidden Kingdom.

What JatevinM said, plus The Expendables are essentially bad guys (mercenaries) so it would make sense for Jackie to play the cop who is tasked with bringing them down but realizes they are OK and they unite against a common enemy. Anyway, he's the only one on earth who could conceivably take the whole team down on his own - as Yuen Woo Ping says 'only Jackie Chan could do that'. Jackie is too damn big a star to be another cameo.

IMO he is the greatest action star of all time, and deserves far more.

Clint Eastwood and Harrison Ford for cameos like Chuck Norris. Cage, Russell and Weather's for sure. Clint doesn't have much tim left, he needs to do part 3. Clint and Arnold are the Godfathers of action.

I would love it if they had Val Kilmer play the bad guy in this film. He always plays a really good bad guy.

But Jackie confirmed for this film? Well, that's a no brainer to watch it. Still a little disappointed that Liam's dead.

so they're filming these movies cheaper no? live action, stunts... low budget on sets cause it's "on location" and the general public LOVES these movies despite how corny they might be with the dialogue and such... they're "classic" films... why is no one else hopping back in on this action? I mean... why not go back to "traditional means" with more than just this franchise? /incoherent rambling

Snipes, Russell and Biehn as the bad guys. Chan as Stallone´s old buddy like Arnie and Norris. Eastwood and Ford in small cameo roles.
