STOCKTON—
Two robberies and two attempted robberies Wednesday night and Thursday morning in Stockton have police especially concerned.
The first robbery took place on East Flora Drive around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night.
According to police, that’s where two men wearing black hooded sweatshirts attacked Nasir Al-Hassan from behind in his front yard.
“This shooting concerns us just because of the way the suspect acted. They went up behind the victim,” said Stockton PIO Joe Silva.
Police say Al-Hassan fought back and head butted one of the men, knocking him to the ground.
The father of four was worried the duo would hurt his family.
“He told his wife to stay inside, let the kids be safe,” said family member Juhina Assad.
One of the attackers pointed a sawed off shotgun at Al-Hassan, and demanded his wallet.
Police say Al-Hassan grabbed the barrel of the gun and pushed it away.
Seconds later, came the sound of gunfire. That’s when Al-Hassan told police he was shot in his left hand.
Police say three similar robberies and attempted robberies happened Wednesday night in this area.
They are trying to see if the incidents are connected.
One happened less than two hours later on Dakota Drive, another on Meadow Lane, and another on Tecumseh Lane.
“They were very bold and brazen. They went into neighborhoods, where people live and actually confronted people at their homes,” said Silva.
In all four incidents, victims wore black and carried long guns.
As for Al-Hassan, he’s in the hospital recovering.
“Right now he’s fine, after he got shot, he’s fine,” said family member Juhina Barboura.
