Interesting that they're updating to the final 4.1.x rather than the current 4.2.x

Xperia Z looks nice but this trend has put me off buying into the next sony generation, they'll have to prove themselves before i get another sony phone rather than promise that they've learnt from there mistakes

Some say it is because Snapdragon didn't provided 4.2 drivers for S3 chipset.

Nice to see one touch mirroring and power management options.

@Doomlord, are there options like battery stamina mode like in xperia Z or atleast extended standby or something like that?

I am really fed up with android system eating up my battery :p

We'll already be running a pretty flawless 4.2 when Sony release 4.1

I think it is not logic that Sony developers (people who get paid!), can't keep up with the developers that just do this in there free time and only get paid by little donations ( no offense to xda developers, I love you guys ;D) But yeah F*ck logic? ;p

You have no idea how huge the process that goes into these updates is. Sony doesn't only have to maintain a base OS (which is pretty easy for them), but they have to make sure all their own applications (Walkman, Album, contacts and dialer, calendar, camera, messages, TrackID, Energy Saver, Back-up and restore, email, first-start guide, Timescape, FM Radio, Update center, Smart Connect, Films, the built-in keyboard and whatever I forgot) also work perfectly on the new version. AND they need to make sure the data from the old versions can be migrated to the new versions without causing problems.

Add to that that Sony never just updates software without changing anything else (like Samsung). Every single update Sony does brings extra functionality, something no other device manufacturer ever does. ICS brought us the new media apps and some extra Keyboard features. JB will bring us the new 2013 lockscreen and styling! That's the second major update that again brings a huge amount of improvements that will once again make your phone feel like a new device.

People should be happy with the way Sony does their updates. The things they add with every update (whether it's ICS or JB) are usually a lot more interesting than the things Google adds.

(And to the person who wanted the cyan icons in the notification bar: dear god please no, those things are horrible - simple yet elegant black and white styling is vastly superior, especially with the rest of Sony's skin design. The icons Sony uses aren't the old Gingerbread ones, those had more shading.)

this is a very early build... lots of graphics glitches are there... camera crashes most of the time... extendend standby cause device to bootloop... and some more issue are there.... but its expected as this seems to be a very early version...

    Is it fast?

Sent from my Jellybean Xperia S :D

Is it smooth as butter and most of all does the phone app open faster? :p

no not really... atleast not at this early stage...

@DoomLord Any news for Xperia Ion?

havent checked... but it will be at same/similar stage as LT26

no "stamina mode" only "extended standby"

    Not yet baseband?

Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app

    precisely... aptly put!

I just want to see the camera get a focus and compression fix. And the new lockscreen. Everything else I'm already OK the way it is.

camera interface is same as the Xperia T JB leak... will post a screenshot soon...

    Anyways, can anyone answer this:
How the 'duck' did DoomLord get that firmware? Does he have one of those fancy 'developer' versions?

from the community.... people have faith in me and hence share these developer firmwares...

oh and a handful of people know how to get developer firmwares working on production devices ;)

I wouldn't be surprised if Sony themselves offered him the chance at the alpha.

nah Sony doesnt provide anything like that...

One of the biggest? I think he IS the biggest.

    @ap
FXP is a team. Doom is a person. Sure, he sometimes has help, but otherwise, everything he does is made by one man!

    @Fernir:
+1 to that. I've been thinking of this since the day this thread was opened...

thanks for the encouraging words but trust me there are bigger devs than me :)

i was just a noob when i got my Xperia X10... it was the likes of jerpelea, zdzihu, Bin4ry, Blagus, aZuZu who helped me gain knowledge of these things...

its like they say... standing on the shoulder of giants!

I know fxp is a team , a team of only few members but considering the amount of work they have done for xperia series is fabulous, without them there would be no custom roms possible and if i ever again buy a xperia will be only because of FXP.

absolutely agree with you on this!
