SACRAMENTO-

More local Red Cross volunteers packed up and left for the East Coast today to help those in need from Super storm Sandy.

FOX40 caught up with a couple going out on their tenth hurricane relief quest, lending much more than just a helping hand.

Larry Wright, who lives in West Sacramento with his wife, had words of hope for those who lost everything.

“You’re not a victim, you’re a survivor. That’s what I tell them, that they are a survivor because they are still here,” said Wright.

For the next three weeks, The Wrights, along with five other local Red Cross volunteers, will stay in West Virginia, in makeshift homes along with those who no longer have a place to stay.

Not everyone has time, like the Wrights do, to take the classes, get training in First Aid and CPR and be available to pack up and leave far from home when disaster strikes.

If you do want to donate, there are a few options:

-Grab your phone and text the word “REDCROSS” to the number 90999. That will automatically send a $10 donation to the Red Cross, which will be reflected on your next wireless bill.

-You can also head into any local Raley’s stores. They have donation jars at the checkout.

-If you’re a Wells Fargo card holder, you can donate at any Wells Fargo ATM.
