When I opened Nexus 4 and NetGear PTV3000 and they could not make connection because PTV3000 is still not Miracast certificated device.

I download one beta firmware 2.2.2 and upgrade the PTV3000. When it reboot and show its new ID on TV, Nexus 4 can locate and connect it.

I test some game and movie and TV can mirror the display of Nexus 4 perfectly. I think NetGear will get this device to get certification i early 2013 and release official firmware to assure 100% perfect stream between PTV3000 and Nexus 4.

How to locate PTV3000 ? Follow this steps: Setting -> Display -> Wireless Display.

Thanks! but I'm confused. It updated fine. and now it responses to be device as well. my TV says "Connecting to wireless display" while showing green wifi bars and my device says its connected.. but nothing after that..

Although it made a random group named DIRECT-zj .. also while waiting for it to connect, I noticed there's a wireless network available with same name as the that group (DIRECT-zj). It says WPS available but WPS receiver didn't work. its WPA2 encrypted and I cant think of any password. I think i need to connect to that group to proceed??

PTV3000 to N4 just like WiFi direct. Nexus 4 connect to home network and watch movie.

I can confirm that with the 2.2.2 firmware for the ptv3000 I have my Verizon GS3 working. I am running bone stock 4.1.1

The only thing is that my phone says there is an update to AllShare Cast but it then says my device isn't supported so I guess I am running an old bersion of AllShare Cast.

Anyway, this is definitely a step forward :)

Yes! It works finally. It takes several tries to connect and gets choppy at times, but works nonetheless.

Do you guys think the NetGear PTV would be a good replacement for a 1st generation roku? I have one and I'm debating whether to buy one and replace my roku or not

I have a Roku. Depends on what type of content you plan on viewing. If you're an Amazon Prime member then stick with Roku because there's no good, clean, pretty way to watch Amazon Instant Video on Jellybean devices anymore.

If you watch Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go our any other programming that has a dedicated Android app to play content then mirroring should be fine.
Personally I'll be keeping my Roku 2 XS and getting a Miracast-compliant adapter soon to have the best of all works.

The only thing that's keeping me from buying right now is lag in sound/video...

Is the lag noticeable when playing movies via PTV3000?

There is no lag when viewing videos on monitor. There is a fraction of a second lag from phone to monitor. But you'll be watching the monitor so you'll be ok.

Certainly not as good as wired HDMI, but I have no complaints with the quality. I watched some youtube videos, played slingbox and played angry birds with < 1 - 1 second lag and little to no artifacting streaming from my N4. I would say it preformed much better than what I was expecting.

Took me about 5 minutes to update and 10 minutes later it was up and running without a problem.

Connected but won't play google play videos

I am connected on 2.2.2 but it will not play google play videos. Anyone else having a problem playing google play videos? I hit play and it just sits with the circle spinning. If I disconnect the video starts to play fine. If I try to play a pinned video it ask me to unpin first. I can play other videos fine just not from google play.

I watched transformer 3 and planet earth with no issues.

Hi guys,

Adding in a few thoughts and a couple pictures next to a HTC Media Link HD for comparison.

+++ Pluses +++

= Much, much, smoother display than HTC's trinket (Media Link lags on basic things like a Live Wallpaper. The PTV3000 doesnt)

= No lag or stuttering to report whatsoever.

= Uniform performance all around the OS.

= It's a wireless display! You can actually USE THE PHONE NORMALLY and move around; you're not hooked to a wire. Want to share something? Tap ON. Done with it? Tap OFF.

= Also works with most recent Intel-based laptops as well.

= Miracast licence is free! Expect MANY wi-fi enabled devices to go for that free and usefull feature!

--- Minuses ---

= Half a second delay (not lag - delay.. Yes, there is a difference.) Playing fast-paced games is nearly impossible. You can wirelessly display your prowesses, tough.

= No split screen function like on HTC's One line; mirroring only.

= Can't start a video and turn off the phone's screen; it'll turn off as well. You've gotta let it on. Battery drains accordingly.

= You gotta use a beta firmware for now (Tough it is beta only because they says so; havent seen a single real bug yet.

= Some stupid ass at Netgear thought it would be better to use a MINI-USB plug (Instead of the MICRO-USB most things like android phones have). Havent seen one of those for a while! - Means you won't be swapping cables.

If you have questions, let me know!

hrm just got my PUSH2TV device today and updated the firmware. The nexus 4 detects the device but just hangs at connecting. Sometimes the search for devices comes back at no devices found.

Anyone seen this?

Miracast issue with Nexus 4 running Stock 4.2.2 & Netgear PTV3000 firmware 2.2.9

I'm having the same issue.
I just bought the PTV3000 to hook up to my SONY Bravia for my Nexus 4 since I seen its compatibly to both devices and I get it home make sure both devices are up to date and they don't connect it acts the same as what you mention. It sees the device it attempt to connect to it but never connects to it at all.

Google: LG Nexus 4 is running "Android 4.2.2 factory ROM" straight from Google have not messed with the device in any way.

I used the stock firmware on the PTV3000 not sure what it was but did not work. I then updated the firmware to v2.2.9 which is the latest firmware as of (today: 02/25/2013 10:10pm CST) which was downloaded directly from here: support [Dot] netgear [Dot] com [Backslash] product [Backslash] PTV3000

If I don't see a fix in the next few days I will be returning the device to Best Buy where I bought it. Hope there's a fix in the works.

I also posted on the Official Netgear forum's found here: forum1 [Dot] netgear [Dot] com [Backslash] showthread [Dot] php?t=83795

I'm having the same issue. I wonder if its the 4.2.2 that's causing the issue
