Released Thursday to coincide with the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con, a new trailer for Disney and Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: Rebels gives a glimpse of the origins of the Rebel Alliance that will one day overthrow Darth Vader and the Galactic Empire—and another new scene, revealed at Thursday’s panel and released online on Friday showed the series’ villain, the Inquisitor in action.
The show—created by Simon Kinberg, with Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ Dave Filoni and Greg Weisman joining him as executive producers—takes place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope and features the beginnings of the rebellion against the Emperor that becomes the focus of George Lucas’ original Star Wars movies.
This sizzle reel gives a look at what fans can expect from the series. In addition to the lightsaber battles and mentions of the Force that you’d expect from any Star Wars project, there’s a lot to appeal to fans of the original trilogy in this video, including TIE-fighters, Stormtroopers and a quick cameo by C3PO and R2-D2 at the 1:17 mark. The second scene, titled “Kanan vs. The Inquisitor,” shows the Emperor’s Inquisitor (Jason Isaacs) in action, complete with a special lightsaber that would put Darth Maul’s double-saber to shame.
Featuring the voices of Freddie Prinze, Jr., Vanessa Marshall, Taylor Gray, Tiya Sircar, and Steve Blum, Star Wars: Rebels launches in October with a one-hour special on Disney XD. Watch the videos below.
