Citrus Heights Police arrested a man believed to have stolen a car and broken into three homes.

Police say Daniel Tinney, 23, broke into a home on Pearl Way but was found by the homeowner inside. He reportedly fled in a car and crashed into a telephone pole.

The car was later confirmed to have been stolen, investigators say.

Tinney ran into a nearby neighborhood and into a house on Roberts Lane. The homeowner told police Tinney threatened to shoot people inside. Police say the homeowner was able to escape the house, but that an elderly family member was still inside.

Then, police say a department helicopter spotted Tinney running out the back of the home toward Twin Oaks Avenue. Tinney hid in an enclosed patio at a third home, on Twin Oaks, investigators say.

Two people inside that home had locked themselves in the bathroom.

After police told Tinney, via loudspeaker, to surrender, officers on the ground saw him leave the patio and arrested him.

No one in any of the homes was injured.

Tinney was booked into the Sacramento County Jail on a laundry list of charges, including burglary, home invasion and resisting arrest.
