The Crocker Art Museum will display the classic American artwork of Norman Rockwell through February 3.

Museum visitor Lee Oestreicher said Rockwell, “showed ourselves to us in a way that was shockingly familiar.”

But the exhibit also shows how America changed through the civil rights struggles of the 1960’s. It’s the type of artwork that is not always top of mind to those who visit the exhibit.

“He continues to tell the story of America, but the story gets different,” said Crocker’s education director Stacey Shelnut-Hendrick.
