Small Business Saturday was founded in 2010 by American Express to assist small business get more exposure during one of the biggest shopping weekends of the year. The day is “for everyone – from the business owners who create jobs to the customers who buy locally – to support small businesses that invigorate the economy and keep communities thriving”.
Many of these businesses such as Cook’s, Jimmy’s, and Sammy’s have survived the test of time and have operated for decades (some since North Sacramento was a city).
