Scene of the fire early Tuesday morning.

SACRAMENTO COUNTY–

A rail car near Roseville and Antelope roads caught fire early Tuesday morning.

The fire was reported around 4 a.m., with Sacramento Metro Fire crews responding to the scene.

By 4:50 a.m., the fire was extinguished.

The danger, as fire officials noted, was the possibility of the fire spreading to other rail cars — since they did not know what was in the other cars. Crews were able to douse the fire before it could spread.

Over 200,000 pounds of product were saved, and a diesel spill was prevented.
