4Ground: Highstreets of Mordanburgh – Unboxed

In this unboxing we take a look at the excellent Highstreets of Mordanburgh part of the Fabled Realms range from 4Ground.
It's a set of four hdf building all in a very cool fantasy style with crooked angles, which would be great for creating a town in a game of Mordheim or spread out as individual dwellings on a Warhammer Fantasy battlefield.
All the parts come pre-coloured so all you need to do is pop out the parts and put them together to create something magical looking.

Oh wow ! I need some just for show, never mind gaming…
They were out on display at our local show a couple of weeks ago and blew me away. I’ve got other 4Ground stuff I knew they’d be good but they exceeded my expectations.
They’d look fantastic clustered together around a courtyard, surrounded by a series of fields and hedges 😀
They look awesome, I’m definitely tempted by them!
I bought some of these back in July, they are fantastic building with a lot of character. They are also very easy to put together as most of their products are.
I shall be sing them not only for Fantasy but also for Pirate games.
@chaingun Anyone who saw the 4 ground display at Salute will be thinking Pirates too.

With all the strange curves and extra details these have I would bet that 4ground could make some awesome Dark Eldar terrain.
Great review of those models. While I too think they look great, I wished they would have went above scale and made them a bit larger. when gaming I tend to think that more room is always a plus.
I know I’m a luddite, but I feel all this pre-painted, pre-built, pre-everything stuff is sucking the fun out of the hobby for me.
Yes, I know I can still make my own, but it will always be compared to the professionally made stuff: “Why did you bake this crap pizza when you could have ordered one from Domino’s?”
Be a luddite and be proud! Put your pavlova carton buildings on the table and tell folks they can like it or they can lump it 🙂
I think you can also use them as a base for more weathering and detailing… new stuff is NOT something to eliminate the building part of our hobby, it’s just better materials and new opportunities… So all is well ! 🙂
I was just wondering the same… is the material used suitable to take a simple wash to ‘knock-back’ the colours, give a bit of shading and bring out some of the texture?
I’ll throw my two cents into the You Don’t Say jar, but those look amazing. I love the fantasy/fairy tale European building designs, and those really get the feel. Very nice looking stuff, and appreciate the full video review!

of cell shaded animated building in a cartoon or something 🙂
… gives it that cartooney outline and shading 😉

that technical term for the construction method you were looking for, is Wattle and Daub 😉

Three now ordered for Arcworlde
The only thing left to ask is: “Do some of the parts mix and match?” That would create even greater versatility if you’d want to build an entire village out of these. Games like Mordheim definitely use more than four buildings on the table.
They’re each a different colour so I’d guess not (emphasis on “guess”)
check out their site – there are 8 different basic buildings of different sizes, shapes & colours and a variant of a tall one with a damaged roof.
Well, I now need. This will go along perfectly with the gaming board I am building. Now have to build a village square like section to it.
I do not play a lot of fantasy games, but this really makes me want too…

Probably the most original MDF buildings to date. Hats off (and wallet opened) to 4Ground.
Amazing quality & detailing can the buildings stand with the inner wall out so its just the wooden frame of a half build house?
