STOCKTON—

Police say that they arrested a young man who was doing donuts in his car and driving under the influence early Monday morning.

Officers doing a different traffic stop saw another car doing donuts near the intersection of Hammer and West lanes a little before 2 a.m. The car then sped by the officers, forcing police to start a pursuit.

The chase lasted for around two minutes, and reached speeds of up to 80 mph. Eventually, the suspect lost control and crashed into a tree two miles down the road, near Holman Road and Auto Center Circle.

Police say the man tried running from the crash, but the officers were able to take him into custody.

Sovanara Chann, 21, was arrested and booked for evading, hit and run charges. He was also found to be driving under the influence, police say.
