ORANGEVALE—
Officers say that a driver falling asleep at the wheel is to blame for a crash that took out a power pole in Orangevale Tuesday morning.
CHP responded to the scene near Greenback Lane and Chestnut Avenue just after 6 a.m., finding that two cars had crashed into a power pole.
The power line then came down and the transformer exploded.
Officers suspect that the driver of a Toyota Tundra fell asleep at the wheel and started to drift, entangling with a Ford Bronco. Both cars were then pushed into the power pole.
The driver of the Toyota only sustained minor injuries. The condition of the other driver is unknown.
Both the Toyota and Ford had to be towed from the scene.
