BUTTE COUNTY-

Jeanette Hughs says it all started with an ongoing family feud that stemmed from an incident with Marcos Diaz’s friend.

She says from there, every time she’d see Diaz he would taunt her and her family.

On May 7, she says she’d had enough of it; after Diaz threw something at her van. She told her husband Albert Hammons to fight him.

The fight started and she says from there it turned violent.

“I saw Marcos pulling something out of his back pocket,” said Jeannette Hughs.

That’s when Hughs says she started looking for something in her van.

“I took my husband the hammer, he threw it down,” Hughs told FOX40

Hughs says, her husband was stabbed by Diaz two times and now he’s fighting for his life at Mercy San Juan Hospital.

Jeanette was booked in the Butte County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, she posted a portion of her bail and was released.

Deputies say she and her husband attacked Diaz.

Hughs says Butte County Deputies got the story wrong, she says her husband’s injuries tell the story of what really went down.

“He stabbed my husband in the neck and the throat,” said Hughs.
