DreamWorks Animation has greenlighted a sequel to its caveman hit The Croods.
Kirk De Micco and Chris Sanders, who wrote and directed the original, are back in their respective capacities for the follow-up.
And DWA is in negotiations with key voice stars to return as well.
Croods centers on a family of cavemen — Emma Stone voices the independent-minded daughter, Nicolas Cage the stuck-in-his-ways father — and the human (voiced by Ryan Reynolds) who guides them through a fantastical world.
The movie has made $144 million domestically since its March 22 opening. Internationally, it’s grossed over $242 million so far.
The movie is a welcome rebound for the company, which stumbled commercially with Rise of the Guardians.
