TORONTO – The FX Canada cable channel in Canada has acquired local rights to air Prospect Park’s online revivals of the classic soap operas All My Children and One Life to Live.
The deal makes FX Canada the only TV channel in North America to broadcast the new soaps; they are produced by Prospect Park’s The Online Network and will air weekdays.
Beginning April 29, All My Children will air at noon, followed by One Life to Live at 12:30 p.m.
“All My Children and One Life to Live are a unique addition to FX Canada’s slate of provocative and critically acclaimed dramas,” said Scott Moore, president of broadcast at FX Canada parent Rogers Media, on Monday.
The iconic soaps will play to an existing Canadian fan base on FX Canada, as both shows previously aired here on CTV Two before Prospect Park moved to continue their life online.
The Canadian TV service has no plans to stream the revivals online or as part of an on-demand offering.
In the U.S., the All My Children and One Life to Live revivals will be available through online streaming on Hulu or via iTunes.
For Prospect Park, the FX Canada deal starts the international rollout of the revived serials.
“Our partnership with Rogers answers an overwhelming demand from viewers in Canada to access our transformed All My Children and One Life to Live programming and incrementally furthers our footprint across all of North America,” noted Prospect Park’s Rich Frank.
