In response to multiple explosions at the Boston Marathon on Monday, the Los Angeles Police Department is increasing security at Monday night’s Dodgers game, a police spokeswoman tells The Hollywood Reporter.
“Along with our increased awareness citywide, the LAPD will also be increasing the security in and around the Dodgers game scheduled for [7:10 p.m. PDT],” says LAPD officer Tenesha Dobine.

A Warner Bros. spokesperson also confirms to THR that tonight’s special pregame event — in which Harrison Ford, star of the Jackie Robinson biopic 42, is set to throw out the ceremonial first pitch — will go ahead as planned.
In 42, Ford plays Branch Rickey, the Brooklyn Dodgers GM who signed Robinson to become the first African-American player in the major leagues. Rickey’s great-granddaughter Kelley Jakle is scheduled to sing “God Bless America” at the game.

The game already is a fraught one, offering a showdown between L.A.’s hometown team and the San Diego Padres, just four days after Padres outfielder Carlos Quentin tackled Dodgers pitcher Zack Greinke on the mound, leading to a multiplayer pileup and breaking Greinke’s collarbone.
Organizers are hoping to avert any further violence at Monday’s game, with the Dodgers’ official Twitter account imploring fans, “Let’s always honor Jackie’s legacy by maintaining a safe, comfortable and family-friendly experience at Dodger Stadium.”
A spokesperson for the Dodgers would not get into particulars regarding Monday’s game, telling THR, “We are not going to comment on specifics related to the Los Angeles Dodgers’ security plans or operations other than to state that security is a paramount priority of the Los Angeles Dodgers.”
