SACRAMENTO-
A night on the streets of Sacramento turns violent after two men walk up to a prostitute and punch her.
All the while they recorded the attack then posted it Thursday on YouTube for all to see.
In the video you could hear the men saying the attack was not their first.
Beth Hassett with WEAVE Inc., a women’s advocacy group says the video is sad, especially when a majority of prostitutes are not there by choice, they are forced.
“Nobody deserves to be treated poorly and violently whether they are in the sex trade or in any other business. It is appalling that these people are doing this and getting away with it,” said Hassett.
Hassett sees 8 to 10 girls a week trying to leave prostitution, but it is not easy.
“Very often they are dependent for everything they have and where they live on this person who is trafficking them. It is a very difficult life to leave,” said Hassett.
Regardless of why these women are on the streets, Hassett says the attacks are not entertaining, they are criminal.
If a complaint is filed and the men in the video caught they could be charged with assault and battery and criminal conspiracy.
