LONDON — Content Film will look to secure worldwide sales leads for the a fictional film about the life of 2012 Britain’s Got Talent winner Pudsey, a movie being co-produced by Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment and U.K. production and distribution banner Vertigo Films.
Directed by Nick Moore (Wild Child) and written by top kids TV scribe Paul Rose, the film is billed as a heartwarming tale of friendship and courage centering on a city dog moved to the countryside with his new loving family.
Pudsey and trainer Ashleigh Butler won Britain’s Got Talent in May in a finale that drew a healthy 14.5 million TV viewers.
The pair is also a YouTube sensation, with the duo’s audition for the show garnering more than 12 million hits alone.
Pudsey has made appearances onThe Jay Leno Show and America’s Got Talent.
It will be produced by Vertigo Films’ Rupert Preston, Allan Niblo and James Richardson with Cowell’s Syco Entertainment.
Vertigo Films has set a U.K. wide theatrical release for this Christmas.
Content Film president Jamie Carmichael said his company is “really looking forward to making Pudsey the most famous dog in the world.”
Syco produces TV formats including The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.
Cowell’s feature output includes Morgan Spurlock’s documentary about U.K. boy band and X Factor contestants One Direction, which is currently in production, and David Frankel’s biopic One Chance, about Paul Potts, a film starring James Corden as Britain’s Got Talent’s first winner in 2007.
