TNT has ordered a second season of Boston’s Finest. The police-centric docudrama, which joined the schedule in March, will return in early 2014.
One of many new unscripted efforts for the Turner-owned cable network, Boston’s Finest averaged 1.3 million viewers in its first season after seven days’ of DVR. Fellow Turner network CNN also announced plans to encore the eight-episode freshman run.
Boston’s Finest comes to TNT from executive producers Donnie Wahlberg and Seth Jarrett and Julie Insogna-Jarrett (Celebrity Ghost Stories), and their respective shingles, Donnie D. Productions and Jarrett Creative Group. The series follows the men and women of the Boston Police Department.
And while the renewal marks a first unscripted re-up for TNT, the order has been cut from eight to six episodes.
TNT’s pickup comes on the heels of sister network TBS ordering a second outing for reality competition King of the Nerds.
