Forget spy photos. Directors have been tweeting up a storm from the sets of upcoming Spider-Man, X-Men, and Planet of the Apes sequels. Heat Vision counts down the week’s best below, though be warned: there are potential spoilers for the films ahead.

1. Professor X Goes ‘70s
X-Men: Days of Future Past helmer Bryan Singer shared a first look at James MCaVoy‘s return as Professor Charles Xavier. He’s ditched 1960s chic for a dirty ‘70s look. There’s a reason Singer used the hashtag “Serpico” with this photo — check out that hair and shirt. We think he looks a bit like Forrest Gump‘s Lt. Dan during those rough, post-war years.

2. X-Men Meets Avatar
While prepping Days of Future Past, Singer spoke to James Cameron about developing time travel elements for the film. Cameron’s influence may be felt beyond his pioneering storytelling work in The Terminator. A tweet from Singer confirmed earlier reports that Days of Future Past is using 3D and SimulCam filming technology used for Avatar. The tech allows for 3D and CG elements to be shot at once, and lets the director see CG elements against a real-world backdrop as he or she shoots.

3. Apes on Horses!
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves tweeted a fantastic tease showing Andy Serkis wearing motion capture gear while riding a horse. While 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes truly was about the genesis of a species, these apes seem much more like those from the original series.

4. Amazing Spider-Man 2 goes to Brooklyn
Anything involving Spider-Man, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) and the Brooklyn Bridge is enough to send Marvel fans into a frenzy. And for good reason, as those who recall a particular 1973 Amazing Spider-Man storyline know. This photo from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 helmer Marc Webb shows the Brooklyn Bridge reflected in a camera lens. It could mean nothing, but…?
