Stuart Ford has signed a multiyear contract extension as CEO of IM Global, the company he founded in 2007.
IM Global has quickly become one of the film industry’s leading foreign sales, financing and production companies.
The announcement of Ford’s contract extension comes on the heels of the Cannes Film Festival, where IM Global shopped a number of projects to foreign buyers, including Martin Scorsese‘s Silence, starring Ken Watanabe and Andrew Garfield. Scorsese flew to Cannes to personally tout the project during a presentation to more than 300 buyers.
India’s Reliance Entertainment owns a majority stake in IM Global. Upcoming releases from IM Global and Reliance include the big-budget family title Walking With Dinosaurs, which Fox releases in December; corporate thriller Paranoia, starring Liam Hemsworth and Harrison Ford; British thriller Hummingbird, starring Jason Statham; and Catherine Hardwicke‘s Plush.
This fall, IM Global begins production on three genre films, including Stretch, directed by Joe Carnahan and starring Patrick Wilson and Chris Pine, and the sequel to A Haunted House.
Other IM Global ventures include pan-Aisan rights buyer Apsara Distribution and Mundial, a joint sales venture with Mexico’s Canana. And during Cannes, IM Global announced a new foreign-sales partnership with producer Jason Blum, Blumhouse International.
And this summer, IM Global will open a Beijing office to bolster the company’s Asian operations.
“It’s been a thrilling ride so far, and I’m looking forward immensely to the next chapter of the IM Global story,” Ford said.
