Daft Punk‘s hugely hyped Random Access Memories can now add Spotify record holder to its growing list of achievements.
The French electronic act’s fourth album has topped Mumford & Sons’ Babel as the most-streamed album in the first week of U.S. release, according to a note distributed by Spotify. Mumford & Sons’ sophomore set surpassed 8 million streams upon its release in October 2012, smashing the previous record by a factor of three.

The music-streaming service also notes that Random Access Memories set a record for one-day streams in its debut week, and that it is “on track” to have the biggest first week of any album since Spotify opened for business in Sweden back in 2008.
Spotify hasn’t revealed numbers to accompany those statements, with the exception of the 27 million-plus figure which the single “Get Lucky” has apparently streamed to date.

The high volume of streams apparently hasn’t cannibalized sales to any great extent. In the U.K., the Columbia album on Sunday became Daft Punk’s first-ever U.K. No. 1, having sold 165,000 copies to become the year’s fastest seller, according to the Official Charts Company. Lead single “Get Lucky” featuring Pharrell Williams and Chic’s Nile Rodgers has also become 2013’s biggest selling single so far, selling upwards of 711,000 copies since it went on sale six weeks ago.
Random Access Memories has also entered the charts at No. 1 in Australia, where it is platinum-certified on debut, and it’s set to debut at No. 1 in the U.S. with a big opening sales tally.
