STOCKTON-

A woman was shot in the neck Monday night as she drove along Highway 99 in Stockton, the California Highway Patrol said.

The woman, 29, was driving a 2002 Dodge Caravan at about 9:30 p.m. when investigators say someone in a car pulled up next to her and fired two “small-caliber rounds” into the woman’s van. The shooting reportedly happened on northbound Highway 99 at Morada Lane.

One of the bullets hit the woman in the neck, according to the CHP. She was able to pull over and call 911. The woman was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.

The investigation into the shooting shut down part of the highway for about two hours.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call CHP Investigator M. Petricevich at (209) 943-8666.

Investigators are looking for a a smaller black car, possibly a Mitsubishi Eclipse, that was seen in the area around the time of the shooting.
