Although Boston has become a popular location for film and TV production, no crews were at work in the city Monday when two deadly explosions hit the finish line of the annual Boston Marathon.
David O. Russell’s new film, starring Christian Bale, Amy Adams and Bradley Cooper, was filming in Worcester, Mass., which is 46 miles from Boston, and was unaffected by the bombings, according to a representative for the project. It is scheduled to return to Boston later this week.

While the movie about the Abscam scandal, the FBI sting operation in the late ‘70s targeting corrupt government officials, has been known simply as the Untitled David O. Russell Project, Boxofficemojo reported Monday that it has acquired a title, American Hustle, and is scheduled for release by Sony on Dec. 13.
The Massachusetts Film Office was closed Monday for the Patriot’s Day state holiday but its website currently lists Russell’s film as the only project currently shooting in the state.
