Bossa Nova: Original Cover Artwork
This week Soul Jazz publishes Bossa Nova, a compilation of the best bossa nova record sleeves. We asked co-compiler Gilles Peterson to explain why they needed preserving: "Bossa nova is known throughout the world as a bit cheesy, but in Brazil it had its own unique vibrant scene with artists such as Elis Regina, Sérgio Mendes and Jorge Ben all becoming huge stars. Bossa Nova was the first 'modern' Brazilian music and this is reflected in these iconic sleeves." Bossa Nova compiled by Gilles Peterson and Stuart Baker, £25, is published 29 Nov.
