Hudson Signs With Seahawks

WILMINGTON, North Carolina - UNCW women's basketball coach Cynthia Cooper-Dyke has announced the signing of Alysia Hudson (Richlands, N.C./Richlands) to a National Letter-of-Intent.

Hudson will join the Seahawks as a freshman for the 2010-11 season. She is the second member of the 2010 signing class as Diana Venezia, a 5-10 shooting guard from Livingston, N.J., signed with the program last November during the early signing period.

"We are very excited about Alysia joining the Seahawk program," said UNCW Head Coach Cynthia Cooper-Dyke. "She has great hands for a player of her size and her strength in the post will be a great asset to our program."

The 2009-10 North Carolina Coaches Association District 2 Player-of-the-Year, Hudson averaged a double-double with 19.2 points and 12.5 rebounds in her final season with the Wildcats and coach Michael Kelly to lead the district in both categories. The Second-Team All-State selection also averaged 3.4 blocks, 2.5 steals and 1.3 assists per contest in 24 appearances.

A four-time All-East Central Conference and three-time all-area selection, Hudson was named the 2008-09 ECC Player-of-the-Year after leading the league in both scoring (23.5) and rebounding (12.4).

Hudson also played softball at Richlands, earning all-East Central Conference honors as a freshman.
