SESSIONS: 

  1. STORY: Bill Grundfest - Golden Globe winning producer/writer | 3-time Emmy nominee (via Webcast)
    • Learn how the pros - you know, the guys who actually HAVE writing credit and industry recognition to show for it - write and what really matters when you put pen to paper (er... or finger to keyboard). By the way, just incase you're wondering, Bill Grundfest is a pro.

       

  2. VFX: Terrence Masson - Chair of SIGGRAPH 2010, award-winning filmmaker, special effects producer, author | Topic: Producing visual effects for your film (via Webcast)
    • This session seeks to help us understand some of the things we should to keep in mind when producing visual effects under a tight budget. Terrence is a 20+ year Hollywood production veteran, and in our conversation with him we'd encourage you to tap on his experience, especially in the areas of visual effects.

       

  3. REFLECTIONS: Lian Pek - award winning journalist and successful documentary filmmaker
    • Lian will be sharing some video clips and her perspective on shooting a documentary. Her session will run in a Q&A format. Ask a lot of questions and see how her insights can help your understand better what it took to make her highly successful documentary, "Mad About English".

       

  4. THE BALANCE: Kelvin Sng - accomplished independent filmmaker
    • Experienced independent filmmaker, Kelvin Sng, will be sharing with us his experience in balancing a filmmaker's self expression and artistic exploration, as well as how to manage the audience's expectation and commercial acceptance. He will also be sharing some information on the feature film he's currently working on.

       

  5. EDIT: Stefano Virgilli - Adobe Certified Product Specialist
    • Stefano will be showing participants how to use Adobe Premier, an editing tool used by filmmakers to put their film together.

       

  6. PRODUCE: Juan Foo

    • Independent film producing and finding an international market.

  7. A VOCATION: Tzang Merwyn Tong

    • Why Make Films? TZANG MERWYN TONG – founder of INRI studio, storyteller/filmmaker with two award winning films (e’Tzaintes, A Wicked Tale), will question the most fundamental of questions – why filmmakers around the world choose to do what they do, in spite of the terrible odds that stand against them. Understand this, and you’ll understand your purpose, calling and position as a filmmaker.

WORKSHOPS

  1. PERFORMANCE: Pearlly Chua - accomplished theater and film actress
    • Pearlly will be sharing with us her years of experience working with theater and film directors. Learn what actors need to know when working with their director and vice versa. This session is also meant to be an introduction into the world of acting. By the way, if you've heard of the highly rated play, "Emily of Emerald Hill", well, Pearlly is the Emily.

       

  2. SHOOT: Loh Aik Khoon - producer, educator, industry practitioner
    • "Lights. Camera. Action!" This is a beginner level workshop. In this session participants are shown the basics of using a camera and lighting equipment. This is an activity based session and participants will be guided through a short filming process and be given a chance to put some of the tips they've learnt to use.

       

  3. SCORE: Desmond Moey - accomplished and celebrated composer
    • It is often said that visuals are for the mind, and audio is for the heart. I sincerely believe it to be true. The emotional experiences we feel, when we view a movie, are affected largely by the music, and the song. Let's have a casual chat on how we can introduce music-song to films. Come get tips and ideas in this short session. We will introduce you to wider connections relating songwriting (lyrics and music).
