Albany, N.Y. - University at Albany Vice President and Director of Athletics Lee McElroy announced on Monday, March 8 the resignation of head women's basketball coach Trina Patterson.
Patterson recently completed her eighth season. She compiled an 82-153 record during her tenure, including 45-87 in America East Conference play. The Great Danes have registered five consecutive losing campaigns, including an 11-19 overall record and 4-12 league mark this season.
Prior to her arrival at UAlbany, Patterson served as the head basketball coach at the College of William & Mary for eight years from 1991-99. In addition, she spent one season as the head coach at the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore. Patterson played on four NCAA Tournament teams at the University of Virginia.
McElroy said a national search will be conducted for a new coach. UAlbany is in its 11th year of NCAA Division I competition and has been a member of the America East Conference since 2001-02.
