Bobby Keanini to lead Chaminade Women’s Basketball

Honolulu, HI-Former Roosevelt High School girls' basketball head coach Bobby Keanini has been named new head coach for the women's basketball team at Chaminade University effective July 1. He succeeds Christina Apisa who coached the team for three years and has left to spend more time with her family and complete her master's degree.

Keanini served as the head girls' basketball coach at Roosevelt from 1992-2007. During that time, his teams made seven state tournament appearances with a Division II State Championship and a Division I State runner up finish. He was named OIA Eastern Division Girls Basketball Coach of the Year in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007 while also garnering Division II State Coach of the Year accolades in 2004.

Keanini is excited and motivated at this opportunity to coach at the NCAA Division II level according to Chaminade's athletic director, Bill Villa. “I have watched Bobby build a very strong girls' basketball program at Roosevelt, and I believe that he has the coaching and player development skills and experience to lead our women's program at Chaminade to a more competitive level over the next few years,” said Villa.
