In Case You Forgot, Trump Still Hates Amazon

It's probably safe to say President Donald Trump isn't an Amazon Prime member.

In case you weren't already aware or forgot, President Donald Trump really does not like Amazon. On Twitter Thursday morning, the president took aim at the Seattle-based online retail giant, as he has on numerous occasions in the past.

"I have stated my concerns with Amazon long before the Election," Trump tweeted. "Unlike others, they pay little or no taxes to state & local governments, use our Postal System as their Delivery Boy (causing tremendous loss to the U.S.), and are putting many thousands of retailers out of business!"

Amazon declined to comment when contacted by PCMag Thursday. Despite Trump's claims, Amazon says it collects state sales taxes in 45 US states and Washington, D.C.

Axios, citing five unnamed sources, on Thursday reported that the president is "obsessed" with Amazon.

"He's wondered aloud if there may be any way to go after Amazon with antitrust or competition law," one source told the news outlet.

Another source called the president's view of Amazon's relationship with the US Postal Service "inaccurate."

"The post office actually makes a ton of money from Amazon," the source reportedly said.

The new comments come after Trump in August 2017 tweeted that Amazon "is doing great damage to tax paying retailers." Trump has also repeatedly taken aim at another business Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos owns: the Washington Post, calling it "a big tax shelter" for Amazon.

"If @amazon ever had to pay fair taxes, its stock would crash and it would crumble like a paper bag," he tweeted in 2015. "The @washingtonpost scam is saving it!"
