WWG7 Rules

If you have any questions on how the game operates, please do not be afraid to ask!

Game flow

Before the game begins, people sign up by posting in the game thread. When enough players are signed up, at the discretion of the mod, the game will begin.

This game begins at the Day phase and transition from Day to Night and back to Day. Days and Nights are numbered. The first Day is Day 1, the first Night is Night 1 which always follows Day 1, the second day is Day 2 which always follows Night 1, etc.

During the Day, players discuss and take action depending on their goal. Townies are trying to figure out who the wolves are, and the wolves are trying to distract the townies to prevent themselves from being lynched. Each Day, players may vote to lynch any alive player they choose. When the deadline is reached, a player may be lynched and the game transitions to the Night phase.

During the Night, players may NOT talk in the game thread. Players MAY communicate with other players outside of the game thread. All Night actions are to be done during the Night. The Night phase ends at the posted deadline, but no sooner. After the Night ends, the game transitions to the following Day phase.

End conditions

When all win and lose conditions have been met, they will be announced along with the players winning or losing. LyLo will not be announced.

General rules

  1. Discussion is allowed (and even encouraged) outside the game thread.
  2. Do not quote any PM, in part or in its entirety, you receive from the mod. This includes fake or erroneous quoting, screen captures, transcriptions, etc. Breaking this rule will get you modkilled.
  3. If you believe the mod has made an error, send them a PM. Refrain from posting about such things in the game thread.
  4. If you have anything (other than the above) you need the mod to read or address, indicate that statement clearly bolded in a post in the game thread, e.g. "Mod: You're the best."

Voting and lynching

  1. Any vote action must be bolded, as such: Vote: person
  2. You may vote to end the Day without a lynch by voting as such: Vote: no-lynch
  3. You may unvote if you wish to remove your vote from someone. Unvoting before placing a new vote is not necessary. Unvote as such: Unvote
  4. A lynch occurs against the player with the most votes against them at the end of the Day. (If a player reaches a majority number of votes, that player is not instantly lynched.)
  5. If no player has any votes on them at the end of the Day, the Day ends without a lynch.
  6. Once a lynch occurs, the Day is considered to be over. Do not post again until the next Day begins, especially if you are the player who was lynched that Day.
  7. Upon death, the role of the player who died will not be revealed publicly.

Alive players

By default, all players are alive. The opposite of an alive player is a dead player.

Alive players may do the following during the Day:

  1. Vote against a player.
  2. Vote for a no-lynch.
  3. Unvote.
  4. Perform special Day powers, if applicable.
  5. Post in the game thread.
  6. Converse about the game outside of the game thread.

Alive players may do the following during the Night:

  1. Perform special Night powers, if applicable.
  2. Converse about the game outside the game thread.

Alive players may not do any the following during the Night:

  1. Vote against a player.
  2. Vote for a no-lynch.
  3. Unvote.
  4. Perform special Day powers.
  5. Post in the game thread.

Dead players

A dead player is a player who was killed by lynching, a Night kill, a modkill, or some other special means.

Dead players may do the following at any time:

  1. Converse about the game outside of the game thread.
  2. Perform special Dead powers.

Dead players may not do any of the following during the Night:

  1. Vote against a player.
  2. Vote for a no-lynch.
  3. Unvote.
  4. Perform special Day powers.
  5. Perform special Night powers.
  6. Post in the game thread.

Modkilled players

Modkilled players function exactly as dead players do, except for the following changes:

  1. Modkilled players cannot win.
  2. Modkilled players may not be brought back to life.

Powers

Powers are special abilities possessed by players of certain roles. There are many types of powers which perform different actions in different ways.

The following types of powers determine when a power may be executed:

  1. A Day-time power may only be executed during the Day. A Daily action may be performed upon any Day if the player is alive.
  2. Similarly, a Night-time power may only be executed during the Night. A Nightly action may be performed upon any Night if the player is alive.
  3. A one-shot power may be performed only once per game. If the power is unsuccessfully executed, it may not be attempted a second time.

The following types of powers determine how a power is executed:

  1. A directed power requires a “target” player to perform. This player may be dead or alive.
  2. An automated power requires no action on the player’s part; the action will be performed automatically when possible. The player cannot prevent this automation.

The following types of powers determine their ordering in relation to other powers:

  1. Role-blocking powers prevent a some power from executing. This includes kills.
  2. Investigative powers collect information about the game.
  3. Resurrecting powers bring players back from the dead.
  4. Protecting powers protect players from kills.
  5. Kill powers kill players.

Powers are always performed by sending a PM to the mod. The PM need only contain a message that the use of the power is desired. For directed powers, the target must be clearly specified in this PM as well.

Only the first PM received from a player is considered; subsequent PM’s are ignored and will not change whether an power is performed or the target of a power.

If a PM is not received from a player by the deadline, if applicable, it is assumed that player will not perform their power.

Powers are performed in the following order (top first):

  1. Role-blocking powers. All role-blocking powers are successful, even if one role-blocking power targets another.
  2. Investigation powers.
  3. Protection powers.
  4. Kill powers.
  5. Resurrecting powers.

Activity

  1. Please treat this game as a commitment.
  2. Each Day will have a deadline, typically between two and five IRL days. Deadlines may be changed under certain conditions.
  3. If a player has not posted in 48 hours, they will be prodded by the mod iff requested to do so by another player.
  4. Prods must be responded to in the game thread.
  5. A player who doesn't respond to their prod within 48 hours will be replaced or modkilled.
  6. If you are going to be unable to post for over 48 hours, please leave a note in the game thread.

Conduct

  1. Be courteous and respectful to other players.
  2. Blatantly antisocial and offensive behaviour or personal attacks will be grounds for a replacement or a modkill at the mod's own discretion.
  3. Finally, the end of the rules! Thanks for reading! ;P
