Lafayette College to name Dianne Nolan as women's basketball coach

will introduce

as its new women’s basketball coach during a press conference Tuesday at the Kirby Sports Center.

Nolan has served as a head coach for 33 seasons, including 28 at

and five at

. She has compiled a 517-416 career record at the two schools.

The past three seasons, Nolan has been an assistant coach at

, where she served as associate head coach to Chris Gobrecht last season.

While at Fairfield, her teams made four NCAA Tournament appearances and she won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Coach of the Year award five times. One interesting fact is that while at Fairfield, every senior women’s basketball player graduated on time.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from

in 1973 and a master’s degree from

in 1974. Both degrees were in health and physical education. She also earned a second master’s in political and corporate communications from Fairfield University in 1989.

Nolan replaces Tammy Smith,

at Lafayette.
