Shootout slate finalized, Weber joins men's field

ANCHORAGE – The University of Alaska Anchorage has finalized the men's and women's fields for the 2010 Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout and announced tournament brackets, UAA athletic director Dr. Steve Cobb announced Wednesday.

Along with host Alaska Anchorage, women's teams from Kent State, San Jose State and Washington, and men's teams from Arizona State, Ball State, Drake, Houston Baptist, St. John's, Southern Utah and Weber State will appear at Sullivan Arena for the 33rd annual college basketball tournament. Weber State – the defending Big Sky Conference regular-season champion – has replaced Southeastern Louisiana, which had been previously announced last fall.

After one year as a 6-team tournament on the men's side, the event will revert to its traditional 8-team, bracket format in 2010. Next year's respective tourneys are scheduled for Nov. 23-24 (women) and Nov. 24-27 (men).
