Cardoza Named Philly College Sports Division I Women's Basketball Coach of the Year

Temple has three named to the first team as well as a third team selection

PHILADELPHIA - Temple Head Coach Tonya Cardoza has been named the Philly College Sports.Com Coach of the Year, and the Owls also have three first-team selections in Kristen McCarthy, LaKeisha Eaddy and Qwedia Wallace. The Philadelphia Division I All-Women's Team as well as Player of the Year and Coach of the Year Awards were selected by Glenn Papazian of Philly College Sports.com and Mel Greenberg of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

In her second season, Cardoza led Temple to its seventh-straight NCAA Tournament, and the Owls advanced to the second round for the first time since 2007. TU finished with a record of 25-9, putting Cardoza at 46-19 in her career on North Broad Street.

McCarthy earned Atlantic 10 First Team honors in her sophomore season after averaging 14.8 points per game, 6.0 rebounds per game and shooting 41 percent from the field. Her season total of 502 points ranks 13th all-time at Temple in a single season.

Eaddy, who was an A-10 Third Team as well as Defensive Team selection, finished her career with 252 steals to rank first all-time at Temple, and 489 assists to rank second all-time.

Wallace ranked second on the team this season with 10.6 points per game, and came on strong in big games at the end of the year. She scored a team-high 18 points in the A-10 Championship vs. Xavier, a team-high 21 points in the NCAA First Round win vs. James Madison, and a team-high 12 points in the NCAA Second Round loss to #1/1 UConn.

Also recognized by Philly College Sports.com was senior Jasmine Stone who earned third team honors. Stone led Temple with 8.9 rebounds per game and scored 7.2 points per game. She recorded double figures in rebounds in three of the Owls' final four games, including 17 in the A-10 Championship game.
