Oregon State paid $14,154 to evaluate women's basketball program before firing LaVonda Wagner

Oregon State spent $14,154.08 on an evaluation its women's basketball program under

, the coach it fired June 1 after an exodus of players, according to an invoice released after a public-records request by The Oregonian.

The assessment, by SportsLaw Associates LLC in Cumberland, Maine, included online analysis, and telephone and on-campus interviews of staff and students associated with the 2009-10 women's basketball season. It was to result in an oral report to OSU's general counsel and not a written report, according to the invoice.

The work was performed between May 5 and May 30, the day

. Oregon State's athletic department paid for the assessment, said Todd Stansbury, OSU executive senior associate athletic director.

Wagner, 45, made more than $300,000 in her last year as coach, and received a $1.2 million buyout for the remaining three years on her contract.
