Miller, Roos Receive Contract Extensions
September 29, 2010 | Women's Basketball
Bowling Green State University women's basketball head coach Curt Miller and associate head coach Jennifer Roos have received contract extensions, BGSU Assistant V.P./Director of Athletics Greg Christopher has announced. The contracts of both Miller and Roos now run through June 30, 2016.
"Curt Miller, Jennifer Roos and the women's basketball staff have established a level of excellence that is remarkable," said Christopher. "It is difficult to build a program and reach a championship level, but it is even more challenging to sustain that championship level year after year. We look forward to Curt and Jennifer being a part of BGSU for years to come."
Miller and his staff – Roos, assistant coaches Brandi Poole and Kevin Eckert and director of operations Monique Rosati – have built a perennial power. Miller, entering his 10th season at the helm, has led the Falcons to an overall record of 206-80 and a Mid-American Conference mark of 108-36 in his first nine years.
"I want to thank Greg Christopher and the entire University administration for their continued commitment to and support of the women's basketball program," said Miller. "The automatic extension for winning a MAC Championship is the latest addition to my contract. This extension provides great security to the program and is important news to future recruits and their families.
"With the help from my fantastic staff, we believe we have built something truly special at BGSU, and we all look forward to continuing the championship tradition in the future.
"Lastly, I want to thank our community and loyal fan base for their continued support of our program. We have some of the best fans in the country and they play a big role in the success of our program."

"I would like to thank BGSU, Greg Christopher and Curt Miller for affording me the opportunity to continue my professional career as a member of the BGSU family," said Roos. "I have been extremely fortunate to work with motivated and high-caliber student-athletes and coaches while at BG.
"I am very proud to represent the women's basketball program, with its rich history and passionate alumnae. Being a part of the Bowling Green community, and having such incredible fan support, truly has made the past nine years at BGSU very rewarding."
Miller, Roos and Company have won six consecutive MAC regular-season titles – all outright – and BGSU also has been to national postseason play in six-straight years. BGSU has won four MAC Tournament titles in those six years, and the Falcons have won more than 20 games in each of the last seven seasons.
Entering the 2010-11 season, Miller is the third-winningest MAC women's basketball coach of all time. In MAC games only, he is fifth in conference history. In the '09-10 campaign, Miller earned both his 100th MAC victory (on Jan. 23 against Eastern Michigan) and his 200th overall win (Feb. 20 at Akron). He became the second-fastest coach in MAC women's basketball history to 100 conference wins, and was the fastest coach in league annals to 200 overall victories. In fact, Miller is believed to be the fastest basketball coach – in MAC men's or women's basketball history – to 200 overall wins.
Miller also has the most MAC wins of any BGSU hoops coach, men's or women's, having moved past former Falcon men's mentor Jim Larranaga during the 2009-10 campaign. And, only the legendary Harold Anderson has more overall wins than Miller in BG basketball annals.
Miller, a five-time MAC Coach of the Year, was named to the list of the top 10 Mid-Major head coaches in NCAA Division I by the National Women's Basketball Insider website in July of 2009.
Roos, a member of multiple Halls of Fame, also earned national recognition in the summer of '09. She was named one of just five national winners of BasketballScoop.com's "Rising Star" Award. The award recognizes assistant coaches that are the best in the business as determined by their peers.
BGSU women's basketball student-athletes have been equally successful in the classroom. The Falcons ranked fifth in the entire nation on the WBCA's 2008-09 Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll, and BGSU was sixth on that list in 2009-10. In both years, BG was the only MAC program, as well as the only program from the state of Ohio, on the list.
On the court, BGSU finished the 2009-10 season with an overall record of 27-7 and a MAC mark of 14-2. The Falcons, as mentioned, won the league regular-season crown for a sixth-straight year, and BG won the conference tournament title to advance to the NCAA Championships for the fourth time in those six seasons.
