Griffin and Hayden Selected Phillips 66 Big 12 Women?s Basketball Players of the Week

Kelsey Griffin (Nebraska) and Kimetria Hayden (Baylor) were named Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Players of the Week by a media voting panel for games from Feb. 15-21. Griffin (player) earned her ninth career award and fourth of the season. Hayden (freshman) was recognized for the first time and is the third BU freshman to be honored this season.

Kelsey Griffin averaged 18 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks in leading Nebraska to wins over No. 13/12 Iowa State and Colorado. She connected on 12-of-18 shots from the field and notched two double-doubles to push her season total to 15, including 10 in Big 12 play. Griffin capped the week by leading the Huskers with 25 points, 12 rebounds and a career-best six assists in the win over CU. She hit 10-of-14 shots from the field while adding two blocks and two steals in 31 minutes of work. Earlier in the week, the senior forward had 11 points and 11 rebounds, despite attempting a season-low four shots against Iowa State. She added an assist and a steal against the Cyclones while hitting 7-of-10 free throws. For the season, Griffin is averaging 19.5 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.8 steals and 0.6 blocks while leading the Huskers with 20 charges drawn. She is shooting 61.8 percent from the field and 72 percent at the free throw line.

Kimetria Hayden, Baylor, G, 5-1, Dallas, Texas

Kimetria Hayden poured in a career-high 27 points to lead No. 18 Baylor to a victory over No. 17 Oklahoma State in her first career start last Saturday. She was 9-of-13 (.682) from the floor, including 4-of-7 (.571) from 3-point range and 5-for-6 (.833) from the free throw line. In addition the 5-1 guard added two rebounds, an assist and a steal in her career-high 37 minutes on the court. Hayden tallied six points, five rebounds and two assists in 22 minutes of action earlier in the week against Texas Tech. For the week, Hayden averaged 16.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists. She shot 52.6 percent (10-19) from the floor and was 9-for-10 from the free throw line.
